An average is a summary of arithmetic, not of experience. When most sales are small and a few are enormous, the average describes a transaction almost nobody had.
The two numbers side by side
Across our sample the mean is $4702.0 and the median is near $1500.0. That difference is not noise. It is the market telling you that the ordinary sale is far below the headline, and that the headline exists precisely because it is rare.
What a median tells a seller
Half the sales in the sample closed above it and half below. That makes it the honest starting point for a name with no special evidence behind it: a clean spelling, a real word, no buyer already at the door.
When to price above the median
When you can name the reason. A category keyword with commercial intent, a name that a specific industry already uses, or one with a history of traffic. Otherwise the median is where the market will meet you, and the renewals you pay while insisting on more are the real cost of being wrong.
